Equine Therapy

Equine Therapy

The sad truth is that our horses can’t simply tell us when they are in pain or feeling discomfort. Issues they are having may manifest into bad behavior or lack of enthusiasm, leaving their owners guessing what the problem could be. Having consistent massage treatments will keep you well informed on your horses’ physical health and provide you with feedback on how they are responding to their current training regimen. Regular appointments will allow you to catch issues early and nip them in the bud, saving precious time and money but, most importantly, keeping your beloved horse happy.

How Can Equine Therapy Help My Horse?

There are many reasons why your horse would benefit from a massage; some reasons include the following:
  • Increasing circulation
  • Increase range of movement
  • Relieving muscle spasms and tension
  • Enhance muscle tone
  • Improve stamina and overall performance
  • Increase flexibility/suppleness
  • Detoxification

What happens during your horses’ session?

When I arrive, an entire documented history report will be taken. We will discuss any injuries your horse currently has or has had in the past. Once I understand what we are working with, I will proceed to feel for any areas of concern and check the tack and teeth to make sure there are no apparent problems. A static and dynamic evaluation will be undertaken. I will then discuss what I would like to conduct during the massage and will then proceed (with your confirmation). Once the massage is complete, I will perform stretches on your horse to help work on its range of motion and get the muscles moving. When the stretching is complete, you will receive a briefing and rehabilitation plan for the said issue. This will include exercises that can be done alone and whether or not further appointments may be recommended.
