Sports Massage

Sports & Remedial Massage

Sports massage can benefit you in various ways, whether working on an injury or simply wanting better sleep.
It is often thought that only competitive athletes can benefit from sports massage, but this is not the case. Many people endure aches and pains daily without knowing that a few massage treatments could drastically improve their overall well-being and quality of life. Your life should not be hindered by an injury that won’t go away on its own. Whether it be lower back pain preventing you from playing sports with your kids, or tension in your neck causing you to cancel going out with friends, we can treat it, giving you the freedom to live your life to the fullest.

How does massage benefit you?

There are many reasons why you would benefit from a massage; some reasons include the following:
  • Increased joint range of movement
  • Increased flexibility
  • Increased sense of well-being
  • Decreased muscle tension
  • Decreased neurological excitability (nerves more relaxed)
  • Decreased muscle spasms
  • Better sleep

What happens during your session?

I will begin the session by discussing what brought you in, any issues you might have had in the past, and anything you believe I should know about. I will then carry out an assessment checking your posture, flexibility, range of movement, and any areas of pain or discomfort. Once I have carried out a complete and thorough examination, I will recommend a plan of action. If you agree, I will then proceed with your treatment. If any form of taping benefits your recovery, I will apply it at the end of your treatment session. There may also be exercises recommended for you to do at home to help strengthen any weaknesses and help speed up recovery.
